all powerful, there are many conditions which cannot be cured and which involve human suffering, For many the idea of assisted suicide or euthanasia may be the idea solution, for
others it is the devaluing of human life. The thesis of this paper is that whilst it is important to have as many safeguards as possible to ensure that it
is used correctly the availability of assisted suicide in controlled condition may be seen as adding value to human life rather than devaluing life, in this way it may reduce
suffering and increase the value that is placed on the quality as well as quantity of human life. There are many arguments that may be put forward in favour
or against assisted suicide. Both the schools of though look to the moral arguments. Those in favour of assisted suicide sight the rights of life and may even argue
that when pets are suffering and dying we put them down in order to be humane, but we will not extend the same right to humans devaluing human life to
a level lower than that if animals. Whereas those against assisted suicide argue that this is tantamount to murder and the allowing of assisted suicide as well as being
morally wrong may also be the thin end of the wedge making other questionable practices more acceptable. One main argument against the use of euthanasia is that it equates
