This 5 page report
discusses the differences and similarities between authoritarian
knowledge and scientific knowledge. Both ways of understanding,
perceiving, or “knowing” and one is not necessarily “better” than
the other, however each has its own unique characteristics.
Scientific knowledge deals with real things that exist in
nature--things that can be perceived by humans or detected by
instruments. The authoritarian model of knowledge sees knowledge
as a collection of information, a set of facts, a series of
proposals or concepts that have been established to be true and
are generally dependent on an interpreter of that information.
