when a mother decides to breastfeed her baby in public. From a health standpoint, however, most experts have been adamant in their
comments that breastfeeding tends to lead to less obesity and fewer cavities among children. On the downside, however, in two-career families, breastfeeding can present some awkward, if not impossible, dilemmas.
But thats western society. What are the attitudes of women toward breastfeeding in the Middle Eastern cultures, specifically Kuwait? While not a
lot of literature is available about attitudes toward breastfeeding specifically in Kuwait, we can try to piece together some information based on the limited amount of writings we have about
breastfeeding attitudes among Middle Eastern women in general. The importance of this study is two-fold. First, the health of children is important,
and researchers tend to tie more health problems to bottle-fed babies than to breast-fed babies (although there are mitigating factors in both scenarios, so care should be taken not to
just blame bottle-feeding for a childs rotten teeth). Second, from a cultural and societal standpoint, breast-feeding seems to be an emotionally charged issue among many developed nations (in more agrarian
economies, its a non-issue; women simply bare the breast and feed their children in the middle of the field if necessary). Determining certain attitudes toward breast feeding can help better
