    with a greater level of revenue available, increased awareness and more end user demand the market will adapt and evolve creating products that may still be simple, but also take  advantage of developing technology (Hooley, et al, 1998). This can be seen in many markets, from home entertainment with television and then DVD players, starting out as simple devices to  the kitchen and even computing. The kitchen is a good example, where there was one a simple stove today there are microwaves, blenders, juice extractors, popcorn makers and a range  of other technologies. The same pattern can be seen in the market for equipment to prevent hypothermia in post operative patients. The Bair Hugger due to enter the market  is one of the more technologically advanced solutions. This builds on the existing systems, such as warmed traditional blankets which are still widely used and are also recognised as the  cheapest option, each blanket weighs between 2- 3 pounds and coats only $0.03 per pound to launder. There are also other more advanced solutions. The use of a water  filled blanket may be seen ass based on the idea of warm blankets, but this can be difficult as the water filled blankets are heavy. The provision of warmed with  infrared lights does not have the weight problem, but this is less suitable as the lights will warm the entire room making it too warm for medical staff to work  comfortable as well as the way they adult patients will be reserved and are unlikely to feel comfortable exposing all their skin. This is an important factor as patient comfort  and humidity treatment are seen as major issues in the way treatment is provided for patients. Treatments such as the warm bath are also seen as effective, but difficult to
