the remnants of once was a thinking, loving human being, others want to let go and get on with their lives. The latter is deemed by some to be healthier.
Everyone has heard stories of people being kept alive for many years, even though they were essentially brain dead, depleting the state, or the estate, of millions of dollars. Money
of course enters the picture. There are greedy relatives who might want to hasten the deaths of their wealthy parents for example, or others who simply do not have the
stamina to care for a terminally ill parent or child. Everyone is different in how they view life and death and illness. However, any decision made to terminate a life--whether
it be by "pulling the plug" or having an abortion or shooting someone to put them out of their misery-- should only be done with the highest regard for human
life. Euthanasia is conceptual and should ethically be void of practical issues. If one makes the decision based on the fact that no one will be there to care
for a living being, that decision is made for the wrong reasons. By and large, people mean well and want to do the right thing for a dying relative for
whom they are responsible. And while the ethical dilemma is not practical, the law must be. For example, it is true that many lives may be taken needlessly because the
practice is legal. At the same time, if the practice is prohibited, people who should be allowed to die, are cruelly kept alive. And while the society looks at the
