Other large cities are Maracaibo with 1.9 million people  and Valencia with 1.8 million (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001). Venezuela is a country of approximately 352,100 square miles (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001).  * Bordering nations: Colombia is on the West border; Brazil is on the South border and Guyana is on the East border (The World Almanac and Book of Facts,  2001). * Topography: The flat coastal plain and Orinoco Delta are bordered by the Andes Mountains (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001). The plains, which are  called Ilanos are found between the mountains and Orinoco (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001). South of Orinoco, one find what are called the Guiana Highlands and  plains, which stretch out for 1,600 miles (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001). * Population and Ethnicity: There is a total population of 23,542,649 in the  country, 87 percent of whom live in cities (The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2001).
