the teen experience" (Anonymous Catcher in the Rye www.rkpuma.com/catcher.htm). . Holden is a young man trying to discover himself and trying to further define who he is and where he  wants to go. As one author states, he is "in search for an identity" (Anonymous Catcher in the Rye bellmore-merrick.k12.ny.us/catcher.html). We can often see Holden as a whiny individual  who takes nothing to hear, takes the advice of no individual, and seems bent on just being a pessimist in terms of life. As one author states, "He found almost  everyone -- except children; this was Holdens class solidarity -- and everything unworthy of him" (Will B07). He has many people who subtly, and aggressively, try to help him  along his journey, offering him advice and wisdom. In each of these individuals we have someone who is actually a reflection of who Holden could be. Each individual possesses  qualities that are a part of Holden, but Holden merely refuses to acknowledge them or work with them perhaps due to the fact that he feels he would not be  unique, for these traits are possessed by the character trying to help him. Bearing in mind that all of the characters who try to help him are merely reflections of  himself in some ways we present the following paper which focuses on the character of Mr. Antolini as one who reflects Holden. In this character Holden is attempting to define  and show himself. Mr. Antolini Mr. Antolini was one of Holdens teachers. He teaches English and Holden has always respected him, feeling he could always turn to him  if he needed help. Up until the point where we see Mr. Antolini Holden has been on his journey, jumping form one scene to another, from one individual to another.
