we use needs to needs to be representative of population we are surveying. The use of probability sampling will not be effective as we only need to talk to those  who are members of the IT profession and methodologies such as random sampling are unlikely to yield sufficient IT professionals. Therefore, we will use a non probability method to identify  the sample. We may use the approach of opportunity sampling is where an opportunity is sought to interview or gain the opinions of a particular group and will then  place themselves or the survey n the position of those who may be most appropriate for that study. For example, we may approach potential candidates who happen to be at  an IT exhibition, or we may use the internet an appeal of responses on a relevant newsgroup or bulletin board or who visits partial sites where IT professionals are more  likely to visit. One approach we may use is that of self selection using the internet. By using the internet we are using a medium where the target population  are likely to be found and as such we are not skewing the potential responses. The next questions is how the questions may be asked.  A tool that has become increasingly popular is that of the pop up survey. The pop up survey will be attached to a web site and then  be set to pop up to a random sample of visitors to that site. The process may result in a pop up screen that is an invitation, alternatively the pop  up screen may come up with the questionnaire itself, staring with a few easier questions. The alterative to this is the use of a banner placed in a web page
