    take place, how, what resources are needed and how they will be used to achieve a predetermined end target. However there are also many differences when looking at different types  of planning. Two planning processes that may be seen as similar are a formal research proposal and a business proposal. These may often be related, as before a business proposal  is created there may need to be research undertaken to establish the market consideration and the needs of the market, but they are also different. Both a formal research  proposal and the business proposal will have some specific goals, but the types of goals they are likely to incorporate can be very different. A business proposal may be seen  as having a very clear end point, for a good business proposal there will be very clear objectives and success can be measured easily by the defined end goal. The  difference between a research proposal and the business personal may be in the way that the goals are framed. It is highly likely that a business proposal will have a  very clear objective measure which is being targeted, such as increasing sales or achieving sales at a set level, gaining a specific level of market share or brand recognition, or  a potentially proportional objective such as increasing sales by a percentage over the existing level. The targets for a business person are likely to be objective, as the purpose of  the proposal is to facilitate a business plan which can be used to assess investment and justify the raising of finance, possibly for presentation to a bank. Therefore there is  a secondary objective with a business proposal, to allow external stakeholders the ability to assess the project and the return that it may create. Therefore, this my be seen as
