A 7 page paper discussing a
1918 recommendation to alter the structure and organization of Boston's schools to include an
overwhelming focus on society and democracy, and the individual's responsibility to each. The
paper is divided into two presentations to the School Committee considering the proposals,
one from a Boston resident, the other from the perspective of a School Committee member.
The resident wants the committee to adopt the principles, but without abandoning classical
education; the committee member supports adopting the principles as they are presented.
