    smarts," a concept that many believe precludes the ability for one to possess an education, however, being street wise is often a much more comprehensive form of education than one  obtain through academic study. Indeed, these two diverse types of education are defined in two completely different ways, clearly illustrating how there is often more to linguistic expression than  meets the eye. In the conventional sense, an educated person is defined by the number of degrees posted upon the wall, which indicates many years of academic schooling. An  educated person also represents affluence in many cultures, which equates to favorable social status. That academic studies can produce high paying jobs is one of the main reasons people  seek higher education in the first place. Those who have proven themselves within the boundaries of their particular field are readily promoted to better paying positions and continue to  climb the ladder of success. Economic development is a critical component for many global communities, so it stands to reason that education plays  a significant role in attain such financial security. Asia represents one of the most educationally dedicated global societies where academic studies are part and parcel to ones entire adult  existence. From the very first day of school, children who attend classes are groomed for their ultimate vocational aspirations, which is at the forefront of the learning curricula even  at the preschool and elementary levels. Because children often subsidize the family income, they must learn a tangible trade at an early age; indeed, the very backbone of these  countries is their economic development, which starts with the children. Schools are literally "training grounds for the business world" (Anonymous PG), in that they give Asian children the chance
