Recommendations Essay: Doctors Hospital of Sarasota Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Florida, a privately-owned facility, is both  an acute and general care facility (Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, 2007). The hospital has 168 beds and serves both Sarasota and Manatee counties (Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, 2007). While more  than 550 physicians have staff privileges at this facility, the emergency room is staff by emergency physicians provided by an emergency physician agency. The hospital itself provides a comprehensive array  of services (Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, 2007). The outpatient services are provided at a centre located adjacent to the hospital (Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, 2007). The two counties have  a total population of approximately 651,700 people with about 17 percent in each county reporting German heritage and 12 percent reporting Irish heritage (ePodunk Inc, 2007). More than 31 percent  of persons in Sarasota are over the age of 65; less than 20 percent are in the same age category in Manatee County. Like most counties in Florida, these two  are experiencing high growth rates. There are three facilities, hospitals & Medical Centers, in Sarasota County and two medical centers in Manatee County (FloridaSmart, 2007).
