Does Watching Violence On TV Make Children More Violent? - Research Study Proposal

    Number of Pages: 3

    Summary of the research paper:

3 pages in length. The undeniable impact of television upon rising juvenile violence is felt in myriad forms, not the least of which is within the school setting. With children completely desensitized to death and injury due to constant exposure through television, it comes as no surprise that they take such influences and apply them to real-life situations to the point where guns and other weapons have become a great cause for concern on school grounds. Bibliography lists 1 source.

is within the school setting. With children completely desensitized to death and injury due to constant exposure through television, it comes as no surprise that they take such influences  and apply them to real-life situations to the point where guns and other weapons have become a great cause for concern on school grounds. Independent variables are ages of participants  and the type/length of violence viewed; dependent variables is level of desensitization already engrained in respondents. The relationship of the variables to the cause and effect of the research  are such that the level of desensitization effectively determines the level at which various age groups respond to the violent content. In analyzing  the relationship among interval scaled variables, the statistical technique that is developed is called regression analysis, a technique that involves developing a mathematical equation that analyzes the relationship between the  variable to be forecast and variables that the statistician believes are related to the forecast variable. The variable to be forecast is called the dependent variable and is normally  denoted by a "y" while the related variables are called independent variables and are denoted by x1 x2, etc. 4. How will you choose your subjects and what safeguards will  you take to protect them? This qualitative design, which will utilize inductive reasoning, maintains a study setting of children between the ages of  five and thirteen. The study population will have a study size that reflect seventy-five individuals whose reactions to watching violent television content will then be followed up with one-on-one  interviews to assess their reaction. The qualitative approach is appropriate for this focus because qualitative research explores an area, collects data through observations and interviews with people, as well
