an understanding of flowers is important, but they do not realize that there is often much more to the job than this. And, the difference between an entry level florist,  one who has just entered the field, and the highly skilled florist is quite extreme. In the following paper we examine the activities and involvement, as well as training, associated  with an entry level florist and a highly skilled florist. Entry Level An entry level florist does not necessarily need any kind of training at all. They should,  however, have a creative nature, a love of flowers and plants, and the ability to perform numerous jobs. For example, an entry level position may require an unskilled individual to  deliver flowers, take telephone orders, and do a great deal of menial labor that is not directly associated with a demonstration of creative and artistic skills. They may be required  to do little more than trim flowers, water plants and flowers, and trim thorns off of roses. They may assist the customer with the writing of cards to attach to  the flower arrangement, or they may, with proper supervision, be able to make simple arrangements that have certain patterns, such as seen in advertised arrangements. As we can see  the entry level florist, if working for someone else, is likely to perform many tasks that may have little or nothing to do with actually creating an arrangement. However, if  they do exhibit an innate ability to arrange flowers, and display an understanding of flowers and the requirement of flowers they may be given a great deal more responsibility and  allowed to make numerous arrangements.
