Most are difficult and laborious to navigate, but those who can do so successfully often are able to implement  goals and objectives that otherwise would have remained only ideas on which no one ever acted... Three sources of funding are the competitive  grant, action research proposal and business plan. Each asks an individual or organization for financial underwriting, but each has different goals and points of focus. Competitive Grant  Grants are highly attractive to those seeking to pursue some course of action on which specific grants focus. Some are geared toward social benefit  and will seek to fund child development or adult education efforts; others focus on extending a "hand up" to a member of a narrowly-defined group (minority women, immigrants from Belgium,  children of war veterans, etc.) to begin a business. There are many types of grants available; these examples address only two. Action Research Proposal  An action research proposal also seeks funding, for the purpose of gaining funding to implement a short-term project that involves qualitative research methods (Sample Chapter(s) for Action Research  for Educators, n.d.). An example can be studying the effect of greater parental involvement on the educational outcomes of special education public school students in fifth grade. The  proposal will provide a review of academic literature related to the stated problem that the proposal also defines. The proposal will offer a review of the research methodology that  the researcher intends to use, and an overview of how the data will be evaluated and reported. Business Plan A business plan describes
