    and while one sees stores like Pier One Imports crop up, and witness local artisans trying to get into the market too, one should know that the high end furniture  business is predominated by several large conglomerates. When one researches this industry that provides people with things to sit on, sleep on and put their things upon, they will find  that a few firms dominate. It is a niche that large firms thrive on because it is something that everyone is impressed with. Indeed, furniture is big business today because  people want their homes to look good. The home improvement business, as well as the decorating business is significant today. On television, there is even a Style channel that includes  not only personal fashion insights but ways to make ones home look well. Television series like Trading Spaces has created a trend to redo and revamp on a budget and  perhaps uses low end product. In fact, many furniture stores that cater to the needs of people with low budgets or who move a lot or who do not want  to spend a great deal at the moment, have arrived. Stores like IKEA allow one to furnish entire rooms, or even entire homes, for a very low price. Yet, there  is always the high end market in any industry. Wealthy people continue to buy select items that are well made and furniture moguls have been able to capitalize on this  area as well. While there are shows like Trading Spaces and others that seek an audience that wants to redo their homes for very little money, there are also shows  like Cribs that display the houses and items bought by celebrities. These homes are lavishly furnished, and while many people live vicariously through the stars as they can never afford
