The National Education Association (NEA) explains to parents their involvement with their childrens education results in several benefits: "When parents are involved in their childrens education at  home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school - and the schools they go to are better" (Getting Involved in  Your Childs Education, n.d.). The trend in special education for many years has been to the inclusive classroom, the least restrictive environment that  a child with one or more disabilities can deal with while having positive effect for all students in the classroom, both special- and regular-education students. Parental involvement has been  shown repeatedly to benefit regular education students, but aside from assessment of how often parents attend conferences to establish the special education students individual education plan (IEP), there has been  much less research focusing on parental involvement in special education (Deslandes, Leclerc and Dore-Cote, 2001). The perspective is that greater parental involvement in  special education has the same benefits and in the same degree as parental involvement in regular education (Gordon and Miller, 2003). That will be the focus of this study,  which will be an action research project designed to provide insight in the effects of greater parental involvement. Statement of the Problem The
