Men have traditionally been the preachers for a variety of reasons, not the least of which involves the Bible where many claim that it  is not a womans place to voice opinions or thoughts in church. It is her duty to ask questions and share thoughts with her husband. However, there have always been  women who are as deeply intrigued and as spiritually aware as men. We have seen women struggling to be heard in this regard perhaps since the beginning of time and  we see actual sermons presenting us with the wisdom and spiritual knowledge of women in "Birthing the Sermon" edited by Jana Childers. In the following paper we examine the purpose  of her book, provide a generalized review, and then discuss what insight could be gained from reading this book. The Purpose of the Book As mentioned, this  book is edited by Jana Childers. It is a book that is compiled of many different sermons presented by women of many different faiths. The subjects are, therefore, varied as  each sermon seems to address different Biblical ideas, all of which seem to highlight the unique qualities of each particular author. In regards to the audience it seems that, for  the most part, it is a book aimed at other preachers and religious individuals. It seems to aim at an audience that may, or may not, advocate women as religious  leaders. This does not mean that the book is not helpful for anyone interested in the field of preaching itself, but overall the book appears to be aimed at those  in the field of preaching, whatever religion. It attempts to illustrate to these particular leaders what women have to offer, what their insight is, and how they are incredibly valid
