This is a 5 page paper that examines the proposal that sophistry, rhetoric and manipulation of belief systems are the political arsenal that replaces the physical 'force' spoken of by Machiavelli in modern America. By comparing the writings of Machiavelli in The Prince it is understood that politicians, defined as the 'prince', will use any means available to acquire power, and the most expedient and efficient means today are the use of words.
