    potential opportunities and the threats that it might face. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a SWOT analysis of General Electrics (GE) management control system. Background  General Electric lights up the world. The company provides efficient products and services for the energy industry. General Electric is know for  providing reliable service to help business and authorities generate, transmit or use electricity. Although most people view general electric only from the end product, the company actually works in  all areas of the energy industry to include coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy. With the onset of more concern over the condition of the earths environment, General  Electric is also concerned and has begun to work with renewable sources of energy such as water and wind. General Electric installed their  first steam turbine in 1901 (GE). Since that time, the company has installed over 10,000 units which are a combination of steam and heavy-duty gas turbines (GE). General  Electric is present in more than 120 countries (GE). In addition to the steam and heavy-duty gas turbines, GE has installed 5,500 wind and 3,600 hydro turbines (GE).  Working closely with customers, GE works with governments and communities to help with the management of international relationships and to help to develop  critical infrastructures. The company also works with suppliers and allows them to become associated directly with the company to become GE factories and platforms for accelerated globalization. GE  continues to create new, creative energy products and technologies. With its vast involvement all over the world, GE necessarily has a management control
