The Great Western makes profits from staging  the bull riding events from the sale of food, drink and goods from the western shop. The hotel wants to increase their level of profit b increasing attendance and decreasing  costs. The paper recommends three marketing strategies including the use of the internet to increase awareness and also to be used as a medium to information to former visitors and  those interested in the sport and reduce the overhead costs of selling tickets. The second strategy suggested is increased emphasis on cooperate events, with the third strategy being the increased  us of public relations to increase exposure of the venue and event. Introduction The Great Western was established in 1862 and is one of the longest  established hotels in Queensland Australia. Located at 39 Stanley Street, Rockhampton, QLD the hotel is a national tourist destination as it has been developed to reflect and embrace bush culture.  This includes the presentation of music informally and through concerts and an indoor rodeo. The indoor rodeo has been in place since 1999 and is the only hotel in Australia  with an indoor rodeo, indeed, it is one of only two in the world; the other is in the United States.
