New products also face an additional challenge; in  many cases the new product will need to create the market that it wishes to sell to. This will involve communicating with a potential target market and convincing them of  a need of a desire for the new product, in many cases to existing products there will already be some degree of recognition and understanding (Kotler, 2003). In this paper  we will look at the development of a marketing approach for a brand new product: a solar powered air conditioning. In order to examine this we will look at the  4 Ps; product, Price, placement and promotion and consider the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat is with the use of a SWOT analysis. 2. The 4 Ps The 4 Ps look  at different aspects of the marketing mix which need to be considered in the case of any new product. 2.1 Product The product the company is going to sell is a  new type of air conditioning; one that is powered by solar panels. In many areas air conditioning is seen as a necessity due to environmental conditions, in other areas it  may be desirable but not essential. Globally there has been seen an increase in energy prices, projections that energy prices are going to carry on rising. So the power is  an inexhaustible source of power, it is not need to be sunny solar power to be generated, cloudy conditions are still capable of creating power. Interestingly, there is an alignment  between the provision of solar energy and the time to air conditioning needed. Therefore, this is a product which should be seen as logical by the target market, and satisfies
