Introduction The sportswear market in the United States, including when equipment, was valued at $282 billion in 2009 (Anonymous, 2010). While  the market showed a decline of 2% in 2009, a result of the overall poor economic conditions, as the US economy continues with its recovery this is an attractive market  as it is well poised for growth. This is particularly true in 2012, as during years when the Olympics take place there tends to be an increased level of attention  on sports and sporting apparel. In order to appreciate the potential of a new business idea business it look at the product and the marketplace and then identify the way  in which the organisation can compete and market the product in order to take advantages of opportunities presented in the market. 1.1 The Product The idea behind the new company  is to set up a firm that will sell retro sports fashions, T-shirts, sweatshirts and sporting jerseys that are reminiscent of years gone by. The product range will be designed  so that it is both functional so that it is suitable for use in sporting activities as well as possible to be utilised for leisure wear and used as a  fashion item. The firm will obtain the retro sportswear from a number of sources, including purchases on the second-hand market for genuine retro sportswear, as well as designing and  commissioning the manufacturer sportswear which will be supplied through an outsourcing agreement. Suppliers of the manufactured retro sportswear are likely to be located in areas such as China, India all  the Philippines, in order to ensure that costs are carefully controlled. China is a country that is able to provide a high level of textile products at a high-quality, but
