A paper which looks at the way Dorothea Orem’s theories of self-management can be seen to have an impact at all levels of health care, with particular reference to the way in which cardiac patients benefit from an increased level of autonomy, and how Orem’s methodology has a positive influence on such issues as community medicine and the allocation of health-care resources.
