This was the beginning of the end for the Ottoman Empire as the other powers began to lust after the Ottoman  Empires vast holdings (Al-Muhairi, 2002). Further adding to the downfall of this government was the "stirrings of nationalism among the empires peoples, and the periodic crisis resulting form these  and other factors" (Al-Muhairi, 2002). It was clear by the 1830s that the Ottoman Empire was dying, but the question was how to dispose of the corpse in a  way which "no one power would gain an advantage at the expense of the others and upset the political balance in Europe" (Al-Muhairi, 2002). And yet, the final breath  of the Ottoman Empire wouldnt come for awhile as they left kicking and screaming all the way (Al-Muhairi, 2002).
