    off. The general provision of facilities reflects this grandeur and general perception. However, behind the stages the picture is not as facilitating. There are many actors which will tell of  poor conditions, cold rooms, few facilities and roofs that leak, small crapped off stage areas and uneven stages on which they have to work. The higher up the hierarchy the  more facilities an individual actor would have, but in terms of the production facilities these range from poor to splendid, especially if examples such as the renovated and redesigned Royal  Opera House are considered. The facilities offered in even the older more provincial theatres may be seen as opulent when compared to the theatres of sixteenth century England. In the  reconstruction that began in 1970 there has been an attempt to remain as true to the original design and conditions as possible (Kennedy, 2002; PG). The finding of the original  remains only 2000 yards away in 1989 after work began on the new globe had aided in the desire to recreate the past and appreciate the context in which the  plays may have been seen (Kennedy, 2002; PG). Despite this there are some very apparent differences that cannot be avoided. In looking at how the older building may have appeared  and the facilities that may have offered the actors, the performance conditions of the past and present Globe Theatre can be compared. The Globe theatre is one of the  best known theatres form sixteenth and seventeenth century London. Famed for putting on the plays of Shakespeare it may be seen as typical of the time, in terms of construction  and the performance condition it provided. Close to the Rose Theatre, it was located in an area outside of the city gates, in an area that was run down and
