Differing studies contend that genetic predisposition may or may not be associated  with heart disease IV. Conclusion Modern medical technology is a wondrous thing. With just the flick  of a switch, life can be snatched from the grips of death. However, without the proper equipment, life merely hangs in the balance, preventing medical professionals from effectively performing  their life-saving jobs. It has been said that the twentieth century is responsible for the most monumental medically-advanced technology, particular in relation to heart disease, which include drug therapy,  heart transplants, coronary bypass, the heart-lung machine and the mechanical heart (Top 10 Medical Advances Of The 20th Century Nominated). Had it not been for these tremendous technological advancements,  mankind would still be using rudimentary guesswork in order to address the always complicated and often deadly heart disease. I. DIAGNOSIS/TREATMENT Diagnosis of heart disease has, up until this  past century, been a rather time and labor intensive application. Technologies of the past allowed doctors to take a patients vital signs, radiographs and blood tests, but they were  not advanced enough to include such contemporary developments as fluoroscopy, phonocardiography or angiocardiography by cardiac catheterization (How Doctors Diagnose Heart Disease). Knowing in advance if a person is at  risk for a heart attack is the absolute best defense against having one. In order for that to occur, however, there has to exist the proper machinery to ascertain  those results. These diagnostic tools exist only because of the technological revolution that continues to improve how the medical community diagnoses and subsequently treats heart disease.
