    year old young female who is still living at home. She started to notice symptoms six months prior to diagnosis. While this attractive patient named Nancy Grove is otherwise healthy,  she needs counseling and help in order to learn to live with the disease. Because of the nature of the disorder, and the fact that symptoms will come and go,  and will sometimes be difficult to manage, counseling is very important. Although the diagnosis is not yet certain, and Nancy will likely see many specialists before more can be known,  the initial shock is something that this patient needs assistance with as well as information about this troubling disease. Nancy lives with her father, Cliff, and her mother Judy and  a younger brother Tyler who is 19 years old. She has an older sister Karen who is 32 years old and has no symptoms of the disease. Of course, it  is not necessarily a hereditary disease, but some experts think that there is a genetic component (Visalli, 1996). Hence, the health of other family members may be important in a  discussion with the client. It appears that both Karen and Judy are overprotective of Nancy who has also had a lot of anxiety due to the diagnosis. She is  single but hoped to one day get married and have children. The sudden onset of symptoms and subsequent diagnosis of possible MS has to some extent put her in a  state of shock. Her mother generally accompanies her to visits and the family is very much involved. She had a brief hospital stay at which time she was presented with  the possibility that she indeed has MS. The prognosis is good at the moment as she only has scant symptoms anyway. Therefore, she will not need much assistance in terms
