    also carries silent memories of childhood abuse. Consider the people that always have candy bars and snacks in purses, briefcases or in their desk, and are closet anorectics.  These examples and others are more fully explored in this paper. EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE Jennifer grew up in an upper middle class home in a wealthy suburb of Ohio.  Her parents were well known and respected in the community and were active in many community projects. Oddly enough, Jennifer never felt she could live up to her parents  expectations even though she was an "A" student and very popular. While she knew her parents loved her, hers was not a house in which emotions were allowed out  in the open. People may have thought it strange, had they known, that Jennifer hoarded food and snacks and always carried packets of sugar from restaurants in her pockets, containers  of cream, packages of ketchup, mustard and salt, anything that was easy to hide yet could be kept with her at all times. This was especially strange since Jennifer  was 54" and weighed less than 95 pounds as a sophomore in high school. Jennifer was a closet anorectic. By carrying food items with her all of  the time she was exercising complete control over her body, the one thing that she had power over. Because the rest of her life was chaotic and filled with  failure (only to her way of thinking), Jennifer had to constantly tempt her starving body with food in order to prove she had dominion over it. THE HIDDEN  BAGGAGE Jennifer was not the only person in my hometown that carried baggage both physically and mentally. A friend of mine, Amy, became pregnant our junior year in high
