    inordinate reason ceases to function? This is the question that most criminal investigators and the public at large have pondered in respect to serial killers and those who repeatedly take  human life, seemingly, without remorse. But the issue can be much more complex than even the why of it. What sorts of circumstances go into the making of a serial  killer? What upbringing, force of nature, or persons, contribute, and to what extent are the external sources responsible for the individuals mental condition? It can be said that a mind  can be evil without being insane. Over the years many serial killers have proven that they were coldly calculating in their obsessions and compulsions. Ted Bundy, for example, was shown  to possess a very high IQ, but according to him, pornography made him do it(Eggers, 1997). Other serial killers state various reasons, such as upbringing, the prison system, pornography, mental  illness, and psychopathic tendencies. Randy Williams, called the I-5 Murderer, for the serial killers that occurred along I-5 in Connecticut during the early 80s, would seem to have begun life  in a fairly typical way. Little did the general public know that this All American Boy would end up doing a Jekyll and Hyde impersonation that would lead to a  killing spree along the I-5 section of interstate. His story seems to typify that of several other serial killers, Ted Bundy, for instance, who could fit in with normal society.  He was one of those persons that people considered a good person. Outwardly very charming and vivacious, it can be said that people gravitated toward him and that they liked  to be around him. Born at Salem, Oregon, in December 1950, Randy Woodfield made good grades in high school and was an integral part of his high school
