Introduction The first thing the student writing about the impact of an  osteopathic-guided exercise and rehabilitation program is a full knowledge of the functions and capabilities of an osteopath and how those skills can be translated for patient education and support.  The student may also work on the premise that because the handout being prepared for osteopatic patients to use at home, it is not necessary to go into an elaborate  explanation about the nature of osteopathy and its basic concepts related to understanding an approach to medicine that results in a musculoskeletal-based healthcare system. In fact, the abdominal strengthening  muscle exercises can serve as a valuable example of the ways in which health depends on the maintenance of proper relationships among the various parts of the body. It is  important to understand and convey the information that in the osteopathic theory of medicine and health, defects in the musculoskeletal system -- the muscles, bones, and joints -- influence the  natural function of internal organs. In order to correct structural abnormalities, osteopathic therapy, or treatment with the hands or by mechanical means, is used. The student will easily be able  to show that the same would then apply to a system in which abdominal muscles and structure are strengthened in order to better support the organs supported within their structure.
