1. Introduction The issue of human rights has become a subject that is rising in prominence. In the past human rights issues were associated with the government and
the way that political control was retained, such as the way dissidents were treated, the way that the criminal justice processes takes place and the degree to which it was
fair or unfair. However, as increased awareness of living conditions and the way that international trade takes has expanded international awareness of human rights into other areas, such as labour
practices which impact greatly on issues such as health, wellbeing and standards of living, with many firms in developed countries that undertake outsourcing using countries where there is cheap labour,
possible poor working conditions and little regard for the well being of the employees. The basic approach to human rights in the country will reflect on the way that
labour practices take place in the country. Where there are poor general human rights practices firms that undertake business within the government or with other companies in the area may
be seen as directly or indirectly supporting the human rights practices, and in soma cases potentially benefiting from them where they impact on labour practices. In order to ass
a country and the way it treats its citizens, whether it is an a potential location for business or for a trading partner, or as a political study to assess
the way that citizens are treated, the issues of human rights and labour practices with a country can be very valuable. The aim off this paper is to assess the
