    Larsen (1996) published an article centering on a study conducted on audio sublimination, but also intended to comment on and critique a 1988 study by Merikle that appears to have  come to be one against which most other comparable research is gauged. As is the case with nearly any other such study in this area, Harris, et al. (1996)  were able to identify some weaknesses with the foundation study that they sought to rectify in their own. Other researchers also have made contribution in the ensuing years, and  Harris, et al. (1996) attempted to address those issues as well. Several relate directly to the Coon text in terms of concepts of cognition in the are of sensation  and reality. Considerations Harris, et al. (1996) quickly use the word "controversial" in their report  of their research. Other research has been inconclusive overall, some concluding that subliminal messages are highly effective and gain the results that their creators intend, others dismissing the entire  concept out of hand. The researchers write that further work into the area is worthwhile not only for the information and knowledge that  stand to be gained from it, but also for either validating or refuting claims of commercial preparers of audiotapes that claim to have subliminal messages imbedded in them. Would-be  purchasers of these tapes who are squeamish over the thought of inviting messages they cannot noticeably hear are reassured by a listing of the text of the embedded messages that  the company provides with its recorded tapes. The company assures customers and potential customers that all of the subliminal messages are focused on positive affirmation and encouragement meant to
