    separate teaching staff and an independent building for each house. With each house containing 300 students the school had a role of 1,200 students in the four houses. The development  of the school was hailed as an innovation, the staff were carefully picked and the student numbers were managed carefully so there was an equal balance of the races on  the school role. However, the school has been suffering from problems since the beginning. A SWOT analysis can illuminate the position of the school and can help to identify potential  strategies to get the school back on track. Strengths The school has been purpose designed with excellent facilities for each of the school houses, each has its won  self contained unit, with its own entrance and classrooms as well as teaching staff. This allows for a small school feel and the potential for the development of a positive  culture as the staff and students. This wads also a potential source of pride for this inner city school as it had won several awards for its architectural design.  The staff may also be seen as a strength, many of which were graduates from highly regarded universities such as Stanford, Yale and Princeton. Many of the staff appear  to be committed to the school, despite disagreements many have stayed in their jobs and many are well respected, even if they are not always liked. There appears to be  some strong leaders such as Dula and Carver and many who had innovative and effective teaching programmes. The first headmaster; Weis, had  a high level of teaching experience and a doctorate and had written books on inner city education. The second headmaster; King, was taking the place of Weis, was also well
