In Ron Chernows book "The House of Morgan: An American Banking Dynasty and the  Rise of Modern Finance" we are given a detailed, and perhaps sympathetic, look at the men who were the Morgans. In the following paper we first discuss the authors point  of view in the presentation of this work, then discuss the ideas that Chernow presents in order to make his point(s), and lastly the paper examines where Chernow discusses the  common ground held by business and politics. Authors Point of View In its most simplistic state, as we note in the prologue to Chernows book, "This book is  about the rise, fall, and resurrection of an American banking empire-the House of Morgan. Perhaps no other institution has been so encrusted with legend, so ripe with mystery, or exposed  to such bitter polemics" (Chernow xi). In this we see a very simple idea, an idea that has perhaps been attempted before in terms of trying to define who and  what the House of Morgan truly was, and still is today. The difference, however, seems that in Chernows work we are given a more human look at the inside of  the events and the people. We are not merely given a perspective that informs us of the greed and evil that seemed to be inherent in the Morgan ideals. And,  it is perhaps in the last paragraph of Chernows prologue that we are given a powerful look at what the books main idea will be: "This books thesis is that  there will never be another bank as powerful, mysterious, or opulent as the old House of Morgan. What the Rothschilds represented in the 19th century and the Morgans in the
