    well. Having three school age children made it nearly impossible for her to ever get caught up after her August school clothing purchases. But earlier this year her  childrens school adopted a school uniform policy. "Getting the childrens clothes ready for their return to school in the fall has never been easier," says Miranda. "Not  only do I save endless days of shopping, but it is so much more economical as well. The children like it because there is no competition with those children  whose parents can afford to buy the name brand clothing. Everyone is on equal ground." Implementation of uniforms in San Antonio has created a bigger controversy than had ever  been imagined. While it seems that this would do nothing more than make things easier for everyone as well as cutting down on gang fights (due to gang colors)  and the competition of who wears the best brands, just as many parents seem to be against school uniforms as against it. As  the school districts have argued, initially the individuals will save a lot of money on school clothes and will never stand in front of their closets bemoaning the fact that  they have nothing to wear. As well, back-to-school shopping would take on an entirely different meaning when most of the allotted spending money did not have to go toward  clothes. "All I have to do is buy two uniforms this year. Last year I spent $200 on clothes" (Anonymous, 1987, p. 76). But much deeper than  that is the issue of safety. In all truthfulness, wearing the wrong colors these days can get adolescents in a lot of trouble; a students clothes could be making
