If we consider  some of the external influences we may consider the impact they may have on their strategic possibilities. The pace of technological development both hardware and software are a large influence,  where developments tae place externally to the company there way need to be developments in the research, as well as the way that services and products are offered. This will  be an existing consideration and new products, even those from outside the company may provide opportunities, especially with the services that focus on integration. As the company deals with integrating  of a wide range of systems, from customer relations management to medical research systems, these may fid increases where new systems come on to the market. The company structure is  able to adapt to these changes as it is flexible. IT is also worth noting the increased emphasis on wireless solution and a fast paced development base to adopt and  embrace new technology. However, the emphasis on services such as this may need to change if there are other changes in the macro environment. If the economy slows down  there may be less disposable income to spend on new systems, cost cutting will be the aim for many of the customers. This may mean maximising resources, this may mean  the implementation of customer relations management, however, as this will create a price sensitive market new investments may be more difficult and as such the strategy may be to look  more to the services such as software development to extend and renovate critical systems (SAIC, 2002).
