    case study at hand, a girl is perhaps becoming bulimic due to the pressures placed on her by society, as well as the fact that her family life centers on  food. In evaluating this case study, it becomes clear that specific challenges people face are often aligned with their families of origin. In this case, a 16 year old girl  who is living at home finds difficulty in coping with cultural norms and familial pressure. According to a case study submitted by a student, Maria is a 16 year old  girl from a "middle working class Italian family." And her parents, Francesco and Giovanni complain about weight issues. Her father had to undergo heart surgery the previous year and has  been determined to lose some weight since that time. The family business is a deli and the parents work there as well as Maria, who performs duties during non-school hours.  Maria also is concerned about her weight and wants to look like the actors on television, but her mother tells her she is not overweight. Her mother reinforces the  idea that she is beautiful. Still, Maria eats a lot of snacks and her grandparents are always trying to force her to eat at meals. Maria sometimes vomits after  eating because she feels guilty about how much she is eating. This case study involves a variety of things such as psychiatry, health care, and the family system. In looking  at Australia, Germov (1999) suggests that there are variances in terms of how health care is distributed and this is related to culture. Indeed, attention to health, distribution of health  care, the embrace of a healthy lifestyle is related to culture in any country. The fact that this ethnic family owns a delicatessen makes it clear that life revolves around
