This is a brief review, or analysis, of the novel "The Divine  Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" by Rebecca Wells. It is also a brief review that clearly illustrates it is a story about many things, not the least of which is  the relationship between generations, and primarily the relationships between mothers and daughters. In the following paper we examine these relationships within Wells novel. Mothers and Daughters In many  ways the novel focuses on one particular mother and daughter relationship, a relationship that is used as a foundation for taking us back in time and a foundation for understanding  the possibilities in the future. This relationship exists between Siddalee and Vivi Walker. They are "an utterly original mother-daughter team" with Sidda being the daughter and Vivi the mother (Divine  Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood: A Novel by Rebecca Wells, 2003). Sidda is a talented young girl who is engaged in public appearances on stage as a dancer.
