    have lasted only twelve months, with the last CEO stating it was to difficult to introduce change, due to the need to balance costs with profits. With several CEOs  there has been a lack of continuity. In some instances this would not necessarily lead to difficulties, but during this time the firm has faced a changing environment; increased competition  has eroded the customer base, including the loss of one customer who accounted for 20% of the firms business. Furthermore, the competitive advantage of the firm has been lost; a  firm that had relied on innovation has not produced any realizable innovations over the last two years. This has also made it more difficult to attract the best potential candidates  into the recruitment process as well as form new alliances to develop products, in both case alternate firms are more attractive. The firm has entered a downward spiral, as  customers are lost to competent revenues will decrease, placing pressure on the need to control costs; an issue which has already been noted as a barrier by a former CEO.  If change is not implemented the firm is likely to continue to suffer, with more customers possibly moving to the competition. To determine the way change should take place  it is necessary to identify the core areas of change and the way change in these areas will impact the firm as a whole, and then look at ways that  changes may be achieved with reference to relevant theory. 2. Focus Areas The way in which change takes place is complex, many different issues become interdependent. There are a  number of problem which may be of concern, losing customers, inability to recruit the best staff, lack of innovation and problem with gaining support for change to be implemented. When
