On each day, observation was conducted for roughly an hour and a half. This location was chosen because this mall is heavily patronized, allowing for observation of  all three groups. However, each group was observed from different locations in the mall. Early Childhood Children were observed playing on an indoor playground attached to a fast food  restaurant. This proved to be an ideal location because the observer could sit within the restaurant proper, yet observe the play area. Over the course of an hour, roughly  20 to 30 children used the play area, although the average length of play was usually no longer then 20 minutes to a half hour.
