Just because one is known to be biased does not mean a problem cannot be solved using the data and other tools available.  One can be biased and still look at a problem from multiple angles. In this way, someone who has a bias can not only fit the problem within a  larger context, but decide if and where it fits in the larger context as well. All in all, those who are biased in some cases are comfortable with ambiguity  as well. ABOUT BIASED THINKING Biased thinking can be considered critical thinking, in that it implies that there is a reason or purpose to the thinking, some problem to  be solved or question to be answered. A bias might be a positive one that sheds new light on a heretofore unthought of process. Analysis, synthesis and evaluation  of information are important in any thought process as well. The use of these methods can ferret out any unwarranted bias or strengthen the scope of the original bias.  Critical thinkers are often biased in their thoughts; they have pre-formed opinions and work their methods towards proving those thoughts. This may or may not turn out to be  a helpful way to look at something in order to analyze. Although one might have a bias that does not mean one cannot approach something new in a logical  manner. One need only look at how others have approached the same question or problem. By knowing when they need more information, a critical thinker can overcome a  negative bias in favor of getting more facts and knowing when to change their opinion.
