In addition the educational; establishment will also need to make sure that the syllabuses offered attract students  to their facilities and meet the needs that will be discovered by the students when they leave and find jobs. Many universities and collages will pride themselves on the level  of employment for their graduates and also on the types of jobs that the graduates are able to attain. In this report  we will look at a trend that is emerging in students, who are stating that they want to improve the value of their degree in Higher Education. This is a  very vague statement; despite the fact many students are expressing this, or similar sentiments. It is also a subjective statement that makes traditional hard systems methodologies, that look for definitive  facts and at logical answers would have problems with dealing in the vagueness and subjective nature of this desire. To consider the problem and the way that the university or  collage may seek to satisfy this student need the use of soft system modelling may be applied. 2. Methodology The role of soft systems modelling is  to enable there to be a system that can consider the less tangible aspects of any situation and foster greater understanding from the perspective of the stakeholders that are influenced.  In solving a problem the first difficult stage may be the actual defining of a problem in logical terms, so that a system can define it in its own terms  (Checkland and Scholes, 1990, Scholes, 2000).
