    a very intriguing and intelligent look at globalization in present times. He takes the world since the Cold War and dissects it, illustrating how and why the world has altered  since the Cold War. He also seems to forecast the future as it involves the new players in the globalization field, illustrating what many countries need to do in order  to benefit and prosper from the new era of globalization. In the following paper we examine elements of Friedmans book as it relates to globalization and the Post-Cold War era.  Globalization and the New Era Friedman begins by illustrating that "The driving idea behind globalization is free-market capitalism-the more you let market forces ruled and the more you  open you economy to free trade and competition, the more efficient and flourishing your economy will be. Globalization means the spread of free-market capitalism to virtually every country in the  world" (8). What this tells us is that in todays environment, an environment that thrives on international exchange, both of ideas and economics, as well as an environment with increasing  technologies, which make the world an infinitely smaller planet, we are looking at an incredibly vast and endless number of possibilities. Globalization, from this perspective, is something that, though having  occurred before, is on the verge of discovery in many ways. But, at the root of its existence, its definition still remains the same in terms of opening free-markets and  the exchange of ideas and economics. Some of the defining features of the globalization international system or era are those features which involve culture and technologies. Friedman argues that  "globalization has its own dominant culture, which is why it tends to be homogenizing.
