the political culture is changing due to demographics that are also causing political discontent. Some feel it is time to start thinking ahead as politicians tend to be short-term  thinkers. POLITICAL CULTURES Were political machines good or bad for America? That is a question that cannot be answered merely upon speculation. Indeed, it would depend upon  which side of the fence one stood as to whether or not political machines proved detrimental or not. The answer from an immigrant would likely be that they were  the saving grace for a person who had nothing whatsoever to lose in order to secure their American freedom; however, the manner by which it was bad for the country  was the way it severely compromised Americas political integrity. The average American was blind to the political machines influence; they were unable to understand the inconsistency that clearly existed  between corporate and government interests. Another aspect of American liberalism came in the form of  creating an economic system that was fair to all and potentially lucrative enough to encourage all individuals to become involved with commerce. Only by this cooperative method could the  economy grow strong and continue to flourish.
