skills seem to be at an all time low; employees feel they arent being heard, and co-workers are finding themselves in a constant state of retraction over something which has
been misinterpreted. The social skill of clear communication is being lost, it would be safe to say, in the tangle of hectic schedules, competing personalities, and disparate agendas. Consider
the problems that would arise if one worked at a hospital as a surgical nurse. The nurse, many times finds herself/himself in a position of being trapped between two very
demanding dynamics. First, there is the patient who can many times be quite abusive, treating the nursing staff as if they were the waitress or maid at a five star
hotel chain. Then, on the other hand, there is the ego of the doctors which the nurse must work with on a daily basis. This also includes support personnel such
as radiologists, lab tech personnel and anesthesiologists. The setting inside most hospitals is remarkably the same. However, it should be stated that the environment of any workplace can have as
much character and attitude as a living breathing entity. For example, most modern hospitals have sophisticated technology which required specialists to run them and maintain them. Many hospitals work in
conjunction with local colleges in programs which offer diverse clinical training for nurses. Some larger metropolitan hospitals even have satellite surgical centers. With this advanced technology and increased
accessibility to healthcare, the nurse is inundated with a myriad of personalities throughout the typical workday. This would be true across the board for the nurse who worked for a
