smoking
cessation program development for nurses using Dorothea E.
Orem's conceptual model. Paper includes discussion of the

Smoking Cessation Programs for
Pregnant Patients : A 9 page paper evaluating three studies
and making recommendations based on the studies' findings.
Indications given by the findings of these studies are that
nurse-managed interventions are more effective than
physician-managed ones, and public health settings are more
likely to see greater degrees of success than are private ones.
Another primary indication is that it is personal attention and
willing support that substantially increase positive results in
cessation efforts. Bibliography lists 3 sources. KSpreg.doc
Smoking Cessation With Post-Operative Head and Neck
Cancer Patients : A 9 page proposal for research into this
topic. This study promises to be of even more importance than
those of the past for special emphasis on head and neck cancer
patients. The problem is that these cancers are most common in
men between 40 and 60 with a history of smoking. While
smoking rates throughout the country appear to be remaining
steady around 25 percent, incidence of these cancers appear to
be increasing. All of the patients are post-operative and so have
the support of the controlled environment of the hospital during
the worst period of withdrawal. Bibliography lists 20 sources.

on
management practices, theories and ideologies that should be
applied to astute nursing home management. The paper gives a
general overview of current general management trends and
discusses the changing face of the field of health care. All
involved parties have come to the realization that health care
costs must be contained, and health care in general is looking to
the hard lessons learned by the countrys manufacturing sector
in recent years of the necessity for increasing quality while
simultaneously reducing costs, a form of Total Quality
Management. The service sector is the fastest-growing of the
nations economy, and the most successful companies have

of the
realities that involve the nursing industry today in relationship to
budgeting a nursing unit. Nurses are gaining more responsibility

nurse has the capability to understand the needs of the unit in a
very specialized way and as such they are becoming the

their particular brand of health care. A definition of the various
terms used in budgeting is included, followed by a brief
scenario which illustrates the budget breakdown of a particular
nursing unit. Bibliography lists 3 sources. RAnurse.wps
