    status quo. They simply want money and to some extent they may have to comprise their principles to reach their goals. There are many examples of this. People join a  firm and see inconsistencies but say nothing of them. They may see people taking paper clips and pads of paper home, and the individuals joke about it. Someone who is  raised in a good, religious home will have a problem with petty theft. If they object to the status quo, they may be seen in a negative light by co-workers.  It is simply easier and better for business to go along with what is happening and say nothing to upper management. There are many other types of situations where people  compromise their beliefs. Another example is that in a hospital, nurses may see doctors making mistakes and are inadvertently asked to cover for them. Nurses realize that if they confront  the doctor, they could be fired for insubordination. Yet, they may know that a particular doctor is incompetent but do nothing about it in order to save their career. There  are so many ethical issues that crop up at work, it is almost impossible to find a company to do business with where nothing detrimental occurs. In fact, Fast Company  publishes ethical problems and lies that contributors send in on an annual basis; this shows how widespread corruption in business really is (Alsever, 2005). Also, ethical behavior is such that  it can and should supersede corruption. The embrace of ethics is a good leadership quality (Monaghan, 2005). Many people just do what everyone else is doing and that seems acceptable  in an industry. On the other hand, sometimes prospective employees, or existent employees, should take a stand. It seems that in some cases, ethics are more important than salary. People
