Through the medium of the nurse establishing a rapport with the  client, this health practitioner is ideally situated to ascertain the present health needs and possible future requirements of the client/patient. The following assessment evaluates the interactions of the student  researching this topic in consultation with Mrs. A, a 48-year-old woman who came to the a well-woman clinic for a consultation and a yearly Pap smear. In conducting this consultation,  the new General Medical Contract (nGMS) was employed. In evaluating the nurse/patient interaction, this evaluation will utilize the Gibbs Reflective Cycle, 1988, which breaks down nurse/patient interaction into six distinct  categories, which are: description, what occurred; feelings, what the practitioner was thinking or feeling; evaluation, what was good or bad about the interaction; analysis, what sense can be made of  the situation; conclusions, what else could have occurred and an action plan, which covers what the practitioner plans to do differently if the situation arises again (Waters, Mohanna & Deighan  n.d.) Description: What happened? Mrs. A, a 48-year-old woman in seemingly good health came into a well-woman clinic for a consultation and Pap smear. The nurse conducted the consultation employed  the nGMS as an assessment instrument. This computer program provides a check list that the nurse can use to cover all pertinent information, checking appropriate boxes as the topics are  covered. Kirby (2005, p. 37) suggests that the nGMS provides an ideal framework for achieving systematic care. Mrs. A indicated that she is happy at her work and that  she does exercise regularly. She is aware of the five-a-day requirement for fruits and vegetables and indicates that she maintains a good diet. She has no significant past medical history
