    A 9 page paper that includes an abstract. The focus of the paper is a hypothetical case study of a second-grade boy who is reading above grade level. An informal reading inventory was administered and the results reported along with comments about the boy's performance and approaches to reading. A literacy program that is effective with students of different skill levels (Four Blocks) is discussed as one way to manage multiple skill levels in a classroom  Introduction The assessment used was the Informal Reading & Spelling Vocabulary assessment from St. Judes Tutoring School (2005). An informal reading inventory is one that has graded passages or  graded lists of words that students are asked to read. Strengths and weaknesses can be learned from these types of assessments. Also, the strategies students use to decode or identify  words can be identified. The assessment is comprised of lists of 20 words for each grade level Kindergarten through Grade 10 (high school sophomore) (St. Judes Tutoring School, 2005). The  lists were used as word recognition. Each word on the lists for grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 were clearly written separately on 3 X 5 index cards. Words were  written with black marking pen in block print, must like the print found in books for this grade level. The student and examiner met in a small private room  for the testing. This allowed the student to be tested without distractions. The examiner began by establishing rapport with the student so that he was relaxed. The process was  explained to the student - "I am going to show you words, each word is on a separate card. I just want you to tell me what the word is.  If you dont know a word, do your best to pronounce it." Assessment Results The student assessed was a seven-year old boy, Tim, in the Second Grade. The
